About LATAA

Founded in September 2004, the Los Angeles Turkish American Association (LATAA) is a chapter of Association of Turkish Americans of Southern California (ATASC). LATAA is primarily dedicated to enriching Turkish-American community members’ lives through countywide recreational, social, educational, and cultural activities.

Gozde Fryc Biography

Gozde Fryc has been serving on VATAN, LATAA and ATASC Boards for many years now. On the ATACS Board, she has been responsible for communication, which entails updating the ATASC calendar, sending out email communication and preparing and sending out the newsletter. I was responsible for these tasks until 2024. She has been serving as the Volunteers Chair on the California Turkish Festival Organization Board since 2023. On LATAA and VATAN Boards, she has served in various roles, such as a member at large, membership chair, social chair and secretary. On the LATAA Board, she has been responsible for communication, which includes carrying out email correspondence, preparing flyers for events, preparing and sending out the newsletter. On the VATAN Board, she served as a Turkish teacher when there was a VATAN Turkish School many years ago. She has been serving as a member at large and secretary. She has taken over the VATAN President role for the 2025-2027 term.

Saime Atakan Biography

President of LATAA. She started volunteering in Turkish – American Associations in 2017 at Maryland Turkish American Association. She has been serving at Assembly of Turkish American Associations, United Nations Committee.
Saime Atakan is an attorney licensed in California, New York and Turkey. She is practicing immigration and business law.
